Do I need an eye examination if I have had a contact lens check?
Yes. While contact lens check-ups and eye tests both involve your vision, they serve different purposes.
A contact lens check-up focuses on:
The front surface of your eye, where the lens sits How well you are seeing with your current lenses
However, it doesn't assess the overall health of your eyes. A comprehensive eye test examines both the inner and outer structures of your eye, including the back of the eye (retina). Many eye conditions affect these areas and may not cause noticeable symptoms in their early stages. Regular eye tests can detect these issues early, when they're often easier to treat.
For complete eye care, you need both regular contact lens check-ups and routine eye tests.
